Another Life Changing Moment

I saw this quote when I was looking for interesting snippets for my Baby Quilt Patterns blog.

"I wandered past a quilt exhibition, went in, and realised I really want to learn how to do patchwork and quilting.

It was written by Jodie van de Wetering, a reporter for ABC WideBay, Australia.

I hope you find the article as interesting as I did.

Quilt Hanging Sleeve

I am always looking for tips and suggestions to put on my Baby Quilt Patterns blog and I came across this video. It shows you how to make a sleeve to hang your quilt.

There is a very good tip in it about preventing the pole from rucking your quilt. I haven't hung a quilt yet so I could not visualise what the problem might be. I used paper instead of fabric and followed the instructions. It works!

Check out the quilt hanging sleeve video as it does a much better job of explaining than I can.

See you later, Davina

Are you looking for a good home for your quilt?

I thought creators of Baby Quilt Patterns might like to see what other quilters do with their quilts. The photos and words belong to

my sister and I have put them together in this short video.

She was on her way to deliver some Personalised Chocolate to a customer when she spotted a sign. I think the following quote says it all.

For those of you who know me, you will remember my little mantra in life is ‘I wonder what’s down here’.

I am sure you will agree the causes would make very good homes.

How to make a perfect square

I know how George Lucas felt when he made his first movie - 'will people watch it?', 'can they understand it?', "will they like it?'. Well my first video attempt for my Baby Quilt Patterns blog maybe out of this world(sorry!) but that is where the comparison with George Lucas's films ends.
However, the production - the photographs, the action, the voice and putting it all together is all my own work.(the music is courtesy of itunes) I wanted to share it with anyone who might be interested if only to say that  if I can do this then you can too. Any comments (provided they are all nice) would be a bonus. I hope you enjoy it.

It is never too late..

Whilst looking for tips and information for my blog I came across this article. What a nice surprise for the daughter and I bet mum really enjoyed the look on her daughter's face.

“I never got around to doing it,” Tomlinson says, softly. “You know how we are when we’re young …”

I hope you like the article too.

Squaring up your fabric

For enthusiasts who have started to Learn To Quilt and maybe those of us who have trouble getting their grain of fabric straight and as a result end up with a "quilt on the bias", the following video should help.

There are more useful and interesting tips being demonstrated by Aimee Griffin on the video which is part of a series.
I hope you like it.

Starting a basic quilt

Whilst I was looking for interesting titbits for Baby Quilt Patterns I came across a series of videos. I find learning much easier and fun if I can watch someone demonstrate. It stays in the old grey matter much better than just reading about it. I thought you might enjoy and be inspired by the video I have given you a link for. Take what you want from it - a little or a lot. What ever, I hope you enjoy it and I will see if there are any other gems I can share with you in the future.

Still Sewing strong at 99

I was trawling through my Reader articles on Baby Quilt Patterns the other day and found this snippit of inspiration.

Victoria Mendenhall, 99, talks about her work sewing quilts at her home outside of Richmond, Utah. The quilts, like her favorite one, top photo, measure a little more than a yard square. She makes them for family and friends with newborns, and for donation to a local medical center...

A lovely picture of  the lady too. Check it out.
